Corten Courtyard House

Clad in weathering steel on a narrow triangular plot at the end of a row of houses, this courtyard home was designed for a client living next door to their daughter. The project delivers a two-bedroom residence fully accessible on the ground floor, featuring a private central courtyard. A separate guest area occupies the first floor, topped by a roof terrace with views over a nearby park.

The design preserves original historic brick walls that frame the courtyard, while inserting a new lightweight timber structure within them. This energy-efficient wood frame features excellent insulation and airtightness. The entire building rests on a raised concrete floor slab engineered to withstand potential flooding.
